What is SJS/TEN?
Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are diseases that cause rash and blisters on the skin and mucosal membranes throughout the body along with a sudden high fever. SJS involves rash and blisters in a small area while TEN involves them in a large area.
Both diseases almost always develop after medication of some form and considered as severe drug eruptions. Severe drug eruptions are drug eruptions that cause life-threatening serious systemic conditions.
If you experience SJS/TEN with eye disorders, you may have visual impairment and severe dry eye as sequelae even after recovery from the disease.
It is important for you to receive an appropriate eye treatment immediately after the onset of the disease.
